“What is home if not complicated”…poignant, authentic and hopeful words! Thank you for sharing the love and meaning of your kinship with the birds. I often feel the same about the birds in my part of the world, in the great white North. How connected we all are, despite the vast distances!
Exquisite writing, carrying this hopeful and tender story. And thank you for the word biophony, the bird calls here recently have been incredible recently cacophony and symphony together.
Sally, thank you so much (I'm not sure how your comment escaped me!). Isn't biophony the best word? It sits with geophony (the sounds of the land)- a favourite of mine too! xx
Thank you for this beautiful vision, Jane! This post reminds me so much of a time in my youth, when I made more time to be with my "allies"...before the grind of adulthood distracted our time together. Listening, reading, seeing this has made me long for those connections, and I'll honor this collection you shared with us by making the time.
I loved reading this. We have only visited NZ once and it was the North Island. I look forward to a South Island trip, a very long one <3 The biggest thing I took back with me from NZ was how very precious each and every living creature was to the land and people, and how very precious the land itself was. Every grain grown on that land held special energy that was palpable. I am surprised that I was ok returning back to my home, but I yearn to return to your lands almost daily.
Lynette, I know exactly what you mean. The land speaks out loud to you here- it's a very special place. Looking forward to your South Island trip! You will have to visit me here! xx
Jane, this is incredible. Welcome home to the Saddleback. And to you.
Thank you- it's beyond exciting to have them here xx
Such a lovely story. Felt happy for this to be my “global news” today. We are kin.
We certainly are. Thank you so much for reading Kimi xx
