Huh, so interesting. I really like your idea that just because it looks odd, my brain says "crap" but really it's just chatting to us via its mood! Love that.
Jane, let me see what I can do. I could take the recording, winnow it down to your session, and dropbox it to you. My challenge, of course, is time. Let me see if I can get this done.
Oh, thank you so much, Erin. It was such a joy! I am somewhat of a spiralling addict. It's also fun to try with two hands at once. Louise Bourgeois used to spiral also considering the spiral out what she wanted to send out into the world, and the spiral in what she wanted to draw back xx
I love that. So simple and so potent. I'm much more confident with my writing than drawing (like you used to be) and I loved the simplicity and surprising potency of this exercise that really broke through some resistance for me. That evocative altered state :) it's rather magnetic. So lovely to share that hour with you. Thanks again.
I was in your class this past week with Janisse Ray and I had a very similar awareness and reflection while drawing the spiral, considering the way you guided it like a meditative process. Thank you for bringing this in, and it's also a gift to read your words on it here. With gratitude 🌿
It's such a pleasure to read this as handwriting and images! I'm all about the line, it's the one thing that has come through clearly in my years of art practice, even though tonal work (especially when it has no lines at all...) is fascinating. You've given me a whole new way to receive my line now!
Reminded by the person below that you said 'the line as evidence of life moving through you'...aaarrgghh all my early essays here were about the birth of what I call 'my free line', and about trying to find a way to respond to the lifeforce swirling around and through me. So looking forward to more of your thoughts around this!
Oh, I love this, Jane: "the line as evidence of life moving through you." Thank you for your beautiful, insightful, embodied session in Journaling Place. We all loved you. And thanks for sticking around to answer so many questions.

Thankyou for this. Valuable insight!
Yes! Exactly this! You are so welcome xx
Wonderful insight. Is there a way to access that session with Janisse?
I will investigate! ❤️

Made me sigh with happiness ❤️
I think this is the best thing anyone could say 😍 Thank you, Francesca! xx

I can't wait to see more of your work, Tamsin. I've become somewhat fascinated with line and all that they show ✏️✨ Thank you so much xx
