Hey fabulous human. I’m so happy you’re here.
I’m Jane Pike, a writer, artist, and creative mentor living in a out-of-the-way corner of Aotearoa New Zealand with my family and a wonderfully chaotic assortment of animals.
Most days, you’ll find me in my tiny garden office-slash-studio, tucked under the trees, tinkering with art and words.
For the past 15 years, I’ve worked in the world of somatic and movement therapies, with a focus on nervous system health. That work deeply shapes how I approach creativity. I’m endlessly curious about the relationship between the body, the nervous system, and creative practice—and how all of that connects us not just to ourselves, but to each other and the wider, non-human world. That’s a big part of what I explore through Creating Wild.
At the heart of it, I believe creativity is part of the human blueprint. If you don’t feel drawn to create, it’s not because you’re not creative—it’s usually because something is getting in the way. Exploring creativity often means unlearning: unlearning the messages we’ve absorbed about what it means to be “a creative person.”
My own creative practice is pretty eclectic, and I share it all here—from illustrated essays and creative nourishment notes to longer, wordy reflections. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but it’s all grounded in curiosity, and a love for the creative process.
For those wanting to go deeper, Listen To Your Art is the paid tier of Creating Wild—where we explore the fertile terrain where body and creativity meet.

What others are saying ✍️
“Jane Pike doesn’t just create, she open doors into the natural world, into the process, and into the heart of what drives us. She brings us into the experience of making, of creating, as a way of life and a natural return to our core selves. Jane understands creativity as something that is instinctual, encouraging us to walk beside her add to the creation through her community. Whether through her writing, art, or mentorship, Jane brings people to the place where curiosity leads, where expression feels inevitable, where noticing becomes its own form of magic. Her work isn’t just insightful, it changes you. If you’ve found your way to Jane, you’re in the right place.”

“Art supported through community. That is what I have found in Creating Wild. It brings you back to a time, when like a child, you create for the sake of it, for the play of it, for the release, and for joy. Rediscovering the inner artist in a safe space where your “not quite rights” are as applauded as your triumphs. Jane guides with care, enthusiasm, knowledge of the many ways in which the art process leads to exploration of ourselves, our environments, our dream life and our freed inner voice. Through her lead I have learned that making time for art is health care. Doodles, poetry, leather, paint, story, pottery, song. Airport napkins scribbles? Yes. Art for everyone done anywhere.”
