This is beautiful, Jane. (Well-fueled by anger, no doubt.) My blood definitely boiled reading the first part. Who are these *men* who’ve appointed themselves in charge of everyone’s future? Love the call to use anger as a catalyst for beauty and creativity. Where I stumble is in finding a scrap of empathy for those men who, entrusted with positions of power, blinded by money and greed, assume human enterprise matters above all else. I feel nothing for (and from) them but rage and grief.
Oh Julie, I hear you. I often alternate between rage and despair and frequently say "But they have no right to do that!". Which then moves on to, how did we become so disconnected? I'm grateful to have words and art to turn to, and to people like you who keep carrying the light. Thank you so much xx
Absolutely love the clear way you have expressed everything here, thank you so much.
Also, a I live so far away from you, I didn’t realise about the rape and pillage of your beautiful land. I’m so sorry yet feel so helpless for all that is being ruined. I feel the anger and sadness acutely.
I just read 36 and it too is lovely. You have a wonderful way with words. Lyrical. Such pleasure to read your work. Beautiful messages wrapped and carried in those words!❤️
Really powerful and necessary discussion Jane thank you. So appalled to hear the level of immaturity, disrespect and disconnection currently in Government in Aotearoa, so much good resides there in the work of so many but when Governments can be bought and propped by billionaires and their media this is what happens even in clean green NZ. Our anger needs to be both beautiful and skilful to counter this, to go beyond opposition towards creative care and subversion. Having that safe in between space to process, connect to others is vital just as you do here. Thank you 🙏
It is appalling. The level of entitlement is overwhelming, not to mention the lack of capacity for respectful discourse. I'm grateful for the work of yourself and others in bringing voice to what's going on and to keep turning my focus and attention to what's good, when it's so easily hijacked by everything else. So thank you equally in return, and for taking the time to read this xx
Such thought provoking writing in response to the anger that so many of us feel confronted by mindless human greed and stupidity. Thank you Jane, a beautiful thought provoking piece.
Patty, all the info is in our community group (there's an invitation link in the email when you signed up for the paid subscription) and I'm sending out an email now with all the details for this weekend also. I'll send you a message too xx
Thank you so much Julie Gabrielli for introducing me to Jane's Substack, her writing and her work. This effective use of our sacred rage is exactly what is called for during this new era.
I'm thrilled to find your work Jane, and am wildly supportive of it. Thank you for doing the work you are doing in the world❤️🙏🕊️ (I can't tell if your accent is Kiwi or Aussie - but if Aussie, hello from a fellow Aussie transplant - I live in the States)
Thrilled to find you also- thank you so much Camilla. I'm originally from the Blue Mountains but have been in New Zealand longer than I was in Australia now. Aotearoa is definitely in my bones.
Grateful for you words- sending love to you across the oceans xx
Oh, I love the Blue Mountains and have very fond memories of my first hiking adventures there with my class in the Waldorf school I went to in Sydney. I grew up in Pittwater if you may know it, but like you, I've now lived abroad for longer than I lived in Australia. Loving kindness bouncing back to you from across the oceans too❤️🙏🕊️
