I love your description of ‘fishing for form, encouraging what wants to be seen to swim up to the surface.’ It shows how creation is its own living thing that we collaborate with, rather than something forced to be a certain way🩵
i thought you were describing my living room at first! and that i've just started to learn watercolour and have bought a new book of watercolour paper, sitting down to use my pencil as you say, to dive deeper into observation and relating and understanding my companions here. there's so much that *needs* doing, and yet it feels so important to sit and do this thing. i feel less alone for you having written. you helped me know the path i'm forging has value beyond my own mind. thankyou so much. and to the witnessing, that too. thankyou. and you are not alone either.
Thank you so much Hilary- I've been playing with Watercolour too (the very last photo here is me doing exactly that!), and I love it, even if it's mysterious to me at times! I completely understand what you mean as far as the value of sitting and drawing and / or painting (or just creating full stop) extending beyond ourselves. I really believe it holds so much power. It really is big magic. Looking forward to celebrating in your creations 💛

“In drawing, I lose the part of me that’s solid, here and known, crawl into spaces allocated solely for spaciousness and mystery.” 🙏
Thank you so much for reading Kimberly 💛
Thank you for bearing witness to the losses. It's a heartbreaking and important ritual.
