I'm travelling home on the M6 and have just crafted and shared a poem, not something I've done before, apart from the poem I wrote for my mother's funeral last year. With this in mind, I'm very interested in healing her hurts, of freeing her creativity that was so stifled and repressed by creating forwards.

Oh Sue, thank you for sharing. I'm so interested in this too. I figure, if they are part of our cellular makeup, how can "creating forwards" (I love this phrase!) do anything but represent a form of healing in reverse? I find it a very beautiful thought.

I taught at a retreat a few years back and was spontaneously moved to write poetry- I can attribute a single poem to sparking a revolution of creating in me. I think a lot about what forces conspire to motivate me to put pen to paper, when it so seemingly was out of the blue.

Looking forward to sharing in your creations more xx

It's a really beautiful concept, and am open to learning and thinking more about it, Jane, especially with regard to my mum who believed she should be submissive to men, never speak out, and diminutised her self until the shrank away. Through my words I want to be loud and proud and draw the essence and creativity of my mother out for the world to see.

All of this is so lovely, but that illustration of the female ancestors at our back blew me away! Incredible!

Thank you so much, Shelia. I feel the hands at my back so strongly- this is the image that comes to me when I close my eyes xx

I can identify with all of this Jane. The desire to create, the rebound anxiety, what happens when creativity gets stifled. I appreciate you putting it all down here. It helps!

Thank you, Emily 💛 It's quite the thing, huh? The negotiation of forces to bring our creative desires to life. It's so lovely to find a wonderful community of co-creators here dedicated to doing the same xx
